Terms of service

The terms for using the Tuneping API and website. Plain language on purpose; the headings are not part of the terms.

Last updated: 29 October 2026 (public beta)

1. Who and what

These terms are an agreement between you and Victor Antofica, Albisstrasse 29, 8800 Thalwil, Switzerland ("Tuneping", "we", "us"). They apply when you use api.tuneping.com, an API key, a partner token, or the data you receive through them. Tuneping is sold to businesses, developers and partner apps; if you use it for a company, you confirm you may bind that company. If you do not agree, do not use the API.

Tuneping keeps a live index of what internet radio stations publish as their current title and serves it as an API: search across stations, the current title for chosen stations, play history, and, as they ship, wishlist alerts, webhooks, track and artist aggregates and exports. Tuneping never stores or relays audio.

2. Keys and accounts

3. Plans, limits and fair use

Plans, prices, request rates, quotas, history depth and feature sets are those published on the pricing section and in the documentation at the time of use. Limits are enforced by the API with standard rate-limit headers and error codes; a request refused for a limit is not a fault of the service.

You may not: share keys between unrelated parties or resell access to the API itself; evade rate limits or quotas (multiple free accounts, rotating addresses, replaying cached credentials); use the data to build or feed a competing "what's playing" index or a copy of our database; present detections as certified airplay monitoring or as audio recognition; or use the service to infringe anyone's rights or to harm stations (for example by targeting them with traffic based on what they play). Automated clients must back off on 429 and 503 answers and honour Retry-After.

You may cache responses within their Cache-Control lifetime, store the data you received for your own product, and show it to your users. Free plan: wherever Tuneping data is shown, a visible "Data by Tuneping" link is required. Paid plans need no attribution.

4. Our data, and others' data

The arrangement, selection and history that make up the Tuneping index are ours; you receive a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the data for your own products within these terms. Individual facts (a station played a title at a time) are not owned by anyone and you may use them freely. Station directory data originates from radio-browser.info (CC0); music identifiers from MusicBrainz (CC0). Titles are the text published by each station and may be wrong, incomplete or deliberately misleading; we pass them on as seen and mark what we can.

Everything is an estimate. Start times carry a stated uncertainty, coverage depends on stations publishing titles, and matching to MusicBrainz can be wrong. Where you show plays as evidence, say "detected from station metadata".

5. Payment

Paid plans are billed by Stripe, monthly or yearly in advance, in euro, excluding VAT; reverse charge applies to EU businesses with a valid VAT id. Yearly billing costs ten times the monthly price. You can cancel at any time; the plan stays active until the end of the paid period and is not refunded for the remainder, except: if the service did not work as described during your first month, write to [email protected] within 30 days of the first payment and we refund it. If a payment fails, we retry and notify you; after 7 days without payment the account falls back to the Free plan and history, webhooks and wishlists stop until payment resumes. Prices may change with 30 days' notice by e-mail; a change applies from your next billing period, and you may cancel before it.

6. Availability, changes and the beta

Tuneping is in public beta. We aim for high availability but give no uptime guarantee except where a Business agreement says otherwise; the status page shows what the service is doing. We may change the API; breaking changes to a versioned endpoint are announced at least 6 months ahead with Deprecation and Sunset headers, additive changes (new fields, new endpoints) can happen any time and your client must tolerate them. We may suspend keys that endanger the service or break section 3, after notice where practical, and we may stop polling any station at any time, in particular when its operator asks.

7. Liability

We are liable without limit for intent and gross negligence, and for personal injury. Otherwise our liability for any damage arising from the service is limited to the fees you paid in the 12 months before the event, and we are not liable for indirect damage, lost profit, or decisions taken on the basis of the data (which section 4 says is an estimate). Free use is provided as is. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

You indemnify us against claims by third parties arising from your use of the data contrary to these terms or to the law.

8. Ending

You can stop using the API at any time and ask us to delete your account. We can end these terms with 30 days' notice by e-mail, or immediately for a serious breach. On ending, your keys stop working; data you received before may be kept and used within the licence of section 4, except the attribution duty of the Free plan, which continues as long as the data is shown.

9. The rest

Swiss law applies, excluding its conflict-of-law rules and the UN Sales Convention; mandatory consumer law of your country of residence is not affected where it applies. Courts at our seat have jurisdiction, and we may also sue at your seat. If a clause is invalid, the others stay in force. We may update these terms with 30 days' notice by e-mail; continued use after that date is acceptance, and you may end the agreement before it. These terms, the pricing section and the documentation are the whole agreement unless a signed Business agreement says otherwise.
